Chain link fences are great for industrial and commercial use. This article will break down the design of chain link fences likely to be used by a fencing company.
All of the segments of the fence are named for either their use or just as a description, so it isn’t too hard to figure out what everything does. The largest posts are the terminal posts, which have ball caps at the top. Line posts are thrown in between at regular intervals for support.
The line posts have eye tops so that a top rail can be threaded through them. The top rail is the finishing part of the frame of the fence, and is held by brace bands and bracing connected to the terminal posts.
The actual chain link comes in various gauges depending on how thick you want it. Nine gauge is best suited for commercial and industrial fencing. The chain is stretched across and held by tension bands on the terminal and line posts. A tension bar ensures they hold fast to the tension bands.
At the bottom of the fence, a tension wire runs horizontally along the gate to keep out animals or people from pushing the springy chain link around. Tie wires perform the same function, but vertically along the line posts.
